Add the ability to put users in a "group"

It would be great if users could create groups and "invite" other people to be in their group, making it easy for users to see blogs/articles written by other people in their group. The idea behind this is our company wants a developers blog, but don't want to host it ourselves. If we could create a "group" that only our staff belong to, then developers would be posting blogs/articles on your site for all to see, but with the main intention that it is useful for other developers at our company.....basically allowing for an easy way for people to see their co-workers blogs/articles.

        As an alternative to this "group" concept, what would work just as well would be the ability to add other users as "friends" or to "follow" them. Basically just a way to easily see who is friends with who, and to be updated when one of your friends makes a new post.
